Sagebrush Surrender — the teachings of a flower essence

After the delicious blog last week with the divine message from Sagebrush, I received emails asking how to work with herbs and flower essences. In this email, I’ll explain a flower essence, and if you want to know about herbs, I wrote this beautiful blog.

What are flower essences?

The essence of a flower is the actual bloom of a flowering plant placed into water and preserved to capture the element of the flower. The method is one of the safest ways to ingest a plant because no physical herbal remedy is created. A flower essence opens the possibility to consume poisonous or dangerous plants. While you can use flowers from toxic plants, be cautious about touching them and the toxicity level of physical touch. You want to be well adept and learned in the art of making flower essences before moving into plants that are more dangerous.

You can also create a no-pick flower essence where you hold water up to a flower in nature without picking the flower. This is useful for those endangered plants and should not be picked at all so the flower can create more seeds.

It is also important to remember that you can make an essence of anything within water: songs, prayers, land essences, and more. This is the main benefit of an essence. The water must be preserved if you want it to last longer than a few days. No preservation is required if you don’t want it to last too long.

I teach extensively on the art of flower essences and making them in my Botanical Mystery School, which is enrolling for 2024. If you’re interested, book a call with me.
