Psychedelics vs Plant Medicine

Why I use the term Psychedelic vs Plant Medicine

A question I’m asked a lot is, what is the difference between psychedelics and plant medicine?

The short answer:
Not all plant medicine is psychedelic, and not all psychedelics are plant medicine.

What is the difference?

Currently, in the world of psychedelics, there is a “renaissance” they love to call it. ‘They’ are the scientists who are creating all the data that proves what indigenous peoples, psychonauts who have been traversing the field illegally, and herbalists have known —

Plants are unique and healing.

The term Psychedelics opens the ground for chemical substances made in labs that mimic plant medicines and contain potential healing properties but still could be classified as pharmaceuticals to exist as healing forces of nature.

The research being done is supported by some pharmaceutical companies now that there is a heightened understanding that certain compounds found naturally in the world can assist with creating a more open mind to work through life challenges more manageable.

Plant medicines are more than entheogens, which are the typical thought of plant remedies that exist in the world of psychedelics. Such as, Ayahuasca, Peyote, Mescaline, Iboga, San Pedro, etc. Then there are mushrooms, technically part of the mushroom kingdom, which aren’t classified as plants. Let’s not forget about the animal kingdom, where hallucinogenic fish and amphibians like Bufo exist.

Check out this short abstract in the NIH Publication about animal psychedelics. The introduction speaks to the history of native peoples utilizing these medicines and co-evolving on earth with plants and animals by expanded alter states.

Then you have Kambo, which is more like an animal version of antibiotics but gets wrapped up in the psychedelic world.

Why do the Differences Matter?

It matters because it creates an extensive amount of confusion when new people want to enter the world of psychedelics. As practitioners and psychonauts, it’s imperative to educate those who know less or guide to importance of knowing the differences.

Education in realizing that not all psychedelics are plants and not all plants are psychedelics is imperative for the safety of those who are administering and those receiving.

It also matters because finding healing in the world of psychedelics doesn’t have to be regulated by the substances being created in labs or a particular ceremony.

There are infinite ways to create your healing path through psychedelics.

Therefore, it’s vital to have a guide, do the research, and learn how to trust your instincts around your healing path.

Why Psychedelic Herbalism?

I spent decades attempting to figure out the correct path for me:

  • I experienced how mushrooms could take me out of depression
  • Climbed mountains to sit with elders at the tops, in caves to meditate for hours
  • I walked deep into the Amazonian Jungles to make Ayahuasca and drink it.
  • I’ve organized and supported countless medicine ceremonies throughout the United States
  • I completed over 800 hours of Yoga Teacher training and continue to dedicate time to my practice.
  • I’ve sat in silent meditation for over 10 days multiple times
  • Completed vision quests, sweat lodges, and walked part of the red road
  • Experienced somatic healing, sound healing, breathwork, dance, and other embodiment practices
  • I’ve studied sound healing and guided sound journeys
  • I’ve held circles for women in different capacities, studied mythology, activated my priestess path, traveled part of the path of the rose lineage.
  • I’ve sat on earth and listened deeply to become a muse
  • I continue to deepen my understanding of the world through Gnostic teachings and ancient texts
  • The list goes on and I don’t plan on stopping as I’m a deep seeker of truth and knowledge…

However, the most important thing on my journey is…

I found the preparatory and integrative force of nature that answered all my prayers.

Plant Medicine – Herbalism is the key to integrating all the techniques I’ve studied and continue to study.

Therefore,I wanted to create a name to describe the depth of the work I offer my students and clients, which encompasses the ability to hold space for those who are walking the path of altered and desired flow states, whether through sobriety, plant medicine ceremonies, biohacking, yoga, meditation, somatic healing, or other means.

Herbalism is a vital component of proper nourishment, which is the KEY to living the life of your dreams.

I’ve dedicated over seven years to preparing and integrating people through psychedelic, transformative life experiences utilizing what has worked for me –learning to trust yourself, your gnosis, and plant medicine.

I aim to educate, inspire self-knowledge, and craft a roadmap for healing.

I’m in the process of listening to my intuition and creating a group format of my individualized program for those who are:

  • in preparation for big changes in their world, health, psychedelic journeys, and integration.
  • Realizing that the healing path is for a lifetime
  •  Desires support of a community, accountability, permission to be themselves
  • Wants herbal protocols tailored to them and sent directly to their door

If this interests you, book a free consultation today to discuss the program and if it fits you.

The Group Program begins on June 6, 2024.
