Addiction, Herbs, & Psychedelics

Can herbs and psychedelics assist with healing addiction?

YES! That is the short answer.

Long answer…check out the video below.

A Truth of Addiction

In my experience, there isn’t one way to define addiction. I believe there are varying degrees or levels to addiction. There are also many ways for someone to play out their addictive behavior. For example, some may turn to alcohol or drugs. Others may turn to obsessions of food and fitness. Underlying all of this is a sense of desiring control or losing control.

In my life, I feel like my addiction has stemmed from an ancestral lineage. There was trauma passed down from generation to generation. I’m the sum product of a significant amount of cultures that have been oppressed. Alcohol and drugs are vital in the process of oppressing these cultures. I am here to break the curse. I’ve always known since I was a child,  I didn’t feel young. I felt ancient.

Psychedelic Mushrooms & Addiction

One of the first things that helped me deal with addiction and depression was psychedelic mushrooms. In college, I began using mushrooms in ceremonies whenever I remembered they were there to hold me up. It took me 10 years to understand their purpose. Once I incorporated herbs, it all began to make sense.

Why are Herbs Vital?

I believe herbs to be the main missing ingredient in most people’s lives. If you think about it, we are what we eat. If you’re paying attention to your food but not paying attention to what you’re drinking and you’re not ingesting herbs, then you’re missing components and minerals. You’re missing out on the things that will bring your body into homeostasis and balance and give you intelligence from nature.

I have uncovered two herbs in this process in a very ceremonial format that have assisted with my addiction are Cacao and Kava Kava.

I spoke last month about Cacao and the heart-opening benefits that it offers and recorded a video on how to prepare cacao.

Kava Kava

Kava Kava, addictionThe other herb I found in 2012 was Kava Kava. It supports anxiety, depression, stress, pain, and spasms in the body, and it also helps with addiction. It’s great because it’s one of the herbs that I have found to work really well with alcoholism. You’re not able to drink alcohol while on Kava Kava.
